DENNY LLOYD
Discovering good music is a little like water divining. It requires patience, a systematic approach and a whole lotta luck!
One of the advantages of having a profile and a connection to the music industry through my band Waiting Room is that great musicians send me their music!
Such was the case with UK muso Denny Lloyd. From the first bars of his CD Running on the Spot I was attracted to the honesty in his lyrics and drive in his melodies.
Denny’s credentials are evident in every bar of his music. At an early age he took inspiration from his parents, who were gigging musos recording and performing their own work. Denny recalls his parent’s friend, John, had a studio in his front room . John’s legacy was to not only teach Denny guitar but also show him that working as a professional musician was a feasible and fulfilling career.
And Denny has proved this to be true. He is constantly gigging as a solo act or in a duo. He has produced 4 albums# with good friend and collaborator Neil Thom and has written and recorded with Guy Chambers, famed for his co-writing and production with Robbie Williams.
Here is a clip of Denny performing the Tom Petty classic “I Won’t Back Down”
This month Denny is gifting you the track Shadow from his first album.

Shadow is an excellent example of Denny’s work. However, it is worth checking out more of his music as it is an influenced by a diverse range of artists and styles. By his own admission his 1st and 3rd albums lean more toward the Beatles and Crowded House while his 2nd album, The Flipside, is more influenced by his passion for bands like Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Sia, Alice in Chains and Air.
Denny runs a studio in Windsor where he writes, records and teaches.
I would encourage you to delve into his catalogue by following the links below.

That is a really great track, thank you for sharing such a real gem. Has an instant hook and totally ‘radio friendly ‘ sound ( it almost reminds me of Squeeze) I like this – a lot!
