This month I profile UK band
The Computers.

Now, I love that social media gives me frequent introductions to new music and exciting bands. On Twitter I shared my excitement at meeting my music idol, Elvis Costello, for the first time. Immediately twitter friend Matt Spracklen pointed me to a cover of the Costello classic ‘Alison’ by the Computers. I was hooked and jumped straight onto their original material from the 2013 album LOVE TRIANGLES, HATE SQUARES.
It is difficult to contain my excitement about this band. Their music seemlessly moves through a number of genres from rock and roll, blues, soul right through to the raw energy of punk rock. The influence of Elvis Costello is as evident in their work as the rocking power of Chuck Berry! Bottom line is the Computers are an awesome and supremely entertaining package.

The band has kindly offered my subscribers a free download of their instantly enjoyable track C.R.U.E.L. which I play on high rotation.

About the Band from Matt Spracklen
“From the fertile, tight-knit punk scene of Exeter, Devon, The Computers relocated to the San Diego home of former Rocket From The Crypt front man John “Speedo” Reis to record their first album in 2011. Completed in just four days, they recorded it live to tape with no overdubs and released the results of those sessions in the form of debut LP ‘This Is The Computers’. Renowned for their exuberant live shows, they soon hit the Radio 1 Playlist with their ‘Music Is Dead’ single.
The band returned in 2013, sharp-suited, drenched in Brylcreem and full of swagger. The 11 track follow up ‘Love Triangles Hate Squares’ was released in April 2013, with single ‘Disco Sucks’ receiving great reviews and plays on XFM and Radio 1. Recorded with producer Mark Neill (Black Keys) in Valdosta, Georgia the album mixes the band’s love of rock and roll, blues, soul and the energy of punk rock.
