The first post profiled Indie artist Denny Lloyd and was wonderfully received. Just in case you missed that blog and the download of Denny’s song SHADOW here is the link to that blog post.

This month’s post profiles an independent musician who holds a special place in my heart. From 2005 to 2010 my band Waiting Room toured the UK seven times, always to massive enthusiastic audiences.

Then came the GFC and it was no longer viable to fly Waiting Room from Oz for UK gigs. To the rescue, English cover band LUCAS led by this month’s artist

Working with LUCAS exposed me to Johnny’s prodigious musical talent. His soaring guitar solos and searing rock vocal skills brought a unique edge to our gigs.

However, it was with the release of the 2012 Album ATTENTION that my respect for Johnny’s talents blossomed.

ATTENTION is choc-a-block full of fresh, anthemic songs that suggest influences ranging from 60’s McCartney to 90’s Northern Brit Pop. I loved the hooky track IT KEEPS ME ALIVE so much I happily participated in the video shoot for the song.

Johnny has gifted you My Heart Lies from Attention as an introduction to his music.

Johnny followed up on the successful vibe generated by ATTENTION with the release of his single LILO, a song that showcases his cheeky, tongue in cheek approach to writing. The film clip is a delight as Johnny photo bombs CANNES FILM FESTIVAL.

Lilo is rapidly gathering momentum with radio airplay on Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and British Military Radio after he performed for the troops in Afghanistan. In fact it is Johnny’s relentless approach to touring (30 uni appearances in 14 days at the start of 2014) that has focused attention on his music.

I urge you to keep an eye out for Johnny on the Live circuit showcasing this and material from his forthcoming second album. His easy-to-relate-to, feel-good music will always leave you in a sunnier mood. Using multiple loop pedals and several different guitars, he entertains audiences completely solo while sounding like a full band.
